One additional problem with this lacking feature is the fact that the box "Invite someone or dial a number" is present at all, suggesting that it is possible to invite any internal user (which works), external user (which does not work) or phone number (which works). This means that everyone who runs into the issue needs to be instructed of the workaround (copy join info, paste it into an e-mail or even a chat window, both work), causing unnecessary support effort. Combined with the current bug due to which external users added to Contacts>Chat appear with their SIP address only may tempt clever users to search for (parts of) the SIP address instead of the name, only to find out that this does not work either.
This field should allow a presenter to invite external contacts by SIP address or name (in which case the client should search in Teams contacts and preferably also in Outlook Contacts), so it comes a bit closer to what we were used to with Skype for Business. And full text search please (this is something Skype for Business also did not have).
This is such obvious functionality that it is surprising that Microsoft has not responded to this feedback item and that there is no Roadmap ID yet.
(On top of all the message "We didn't find any matches. Talk to your IT Admin about expanding the scope of your search" is misleading as there is nothing an IT Admin can do to fix this lack of functionality.)
