So, in Teams meeting options there is now an option to Allow camera for attendees. In the Teams admin centre, we have set the students policy to disallow IP video, so students cannot turn on their webcams.

My question is, when we schedule a meeting with a student, which of the settings will take effect? Will it be the meeting options (webcam on) or the teams meeting policy (webcam off) for the student.

And also how can we set the Teams meeting option to off by default for Allow camera for attendees.

Muting them in the Manage Team section only mutes them in the General channel. They are no tmuted in the private channels. Please change.

Thank you for your feedback! The team has reviewed this request and has added it to our backlog for both Standard (Public) to Private and Private to Standard (Public) channel conversion. We will share an update as soon as it’s available.

Really need this in education. Many times, 2 teachers will share a class. Both need access to the meeting. Or if a teacher is absent, they should be able to delegate control of the meeting to another teacher. Or at the very least allow a global admin to add teachers as meeting organisers. Instead what we have to do now is for the 2nd teacher to create another meeting so that they can be the meeting organiser, which confuses the heck out of students, as they now see 2 duplicate lessons, and many will click on the wrong one.

The only way of doing this is to turn of Allow anonymous access in the Teams admin center. This stops external members from joining the lesson. BUT it also stops you having meetings with external users too. So to have a meeting with an external user you would have to create a dummy account and give the details to the external user.

The option to allow only the meeting organizer to record a meeting is enabled via presenter & attendee roles:

Presenters can do just about anything that needs doing in a meeting. Attendees have limitations on the actions they can initiate within the meeting, including the following:
    - Present
    - Mute All
    - Remove/Add Users
    - Admit Users from Lobby
    - Start/Stop Recording

For more info, please see the documentation below:
    https://support.office.com/article/roles-in-a-teams-meeting-c16fa7d0-1666-4dde-8686-0a0bfe16e019.

For number 2, I would also make global admins have full control over all meetings/options so if a member of staff is absent or left, the global admin can change host/owner of team.

Working in education. If we turn on Allow anonymous access, then students can copy the meeting link and send it to anyone in the world. That external person could then join the meeting with any name they choose. Yes I know the teacher can turn the lobby on but if the external user uses a name that is the same as a student, the teacher could get fooled. I want to be able to invite an external user to a meetign via a link, or add the Guest users email into O365, so that only those can join, not anyone with the link.

Thank you for your feedback! We are updating this as “Partialy Done” as our first step to solving for pinned posts has been released! Pinned posts allows users from a team to pin a message for everyone in the channel to be able to easily reference. While any message can be pinnable, we expect our users to use this feature to pin information like channel guidelines or important announcements. We know this doesn’t solve all pinning scenarios, and that there is still a need to make this easier for users to find, especially within the message list. We will share another update as soon as it is available.

Much needed, our students are having to scroll through hundreds of messages just to find a message.
