Good news, this feature is partially done. :)
Planner tasks can now be copied to other plans. To copy a task, click on the “…” menu on the task. From there, you can select a different plan to copy the task to.

Not sure if I am missing something, the the @channel mention is fine for this purpose - it allows people to get notified if they want and not if they don't. Not having all notifications on by default also allows conversations threads to happen 'in the open' without continually pinging people that are not involved.
Instead, I think it is currently strange that the default behaviour of channel notifications is marked as "custom" when a user has not customised it. But do not think that the actual behaviour of only being notified if you or the channel you have shown is mentioned should change by default.

Adding email as a left tab panel remains under review. We are working on adding several Teams and email integrations:
- Share to Teams: Share a copy of an email and any attachments into a chat or channel directly from Outlook
- Share to Outlook: Share a copy of a channel or chat conversation via email directly from Teams
- Actionable Teams Activity Emails: Teams missed activity emails display the latest replies and allow you to reply directly from Outlook

The engineering team is continuing to work on adding support for multiple accounts on desktop clients. We will first launch support for 1 work/school account and 1 personal account so users can enjoy Teams for work and personal side-by-side. Windows and MacOS. Support for multiple work accounts is still being worked on and will come at a later date.
