Many organizations don't use webcam video and often don't have user photos either. These large useless circles are a waste of screen while most of our meetings involve screen sharing. You really should make an effort to absolutely maximize the screen area available for screen sharing.

Agree. I think the sensible option is to respect the user's preference as a global default that is respected across all teams and channels. After all, this is a user preference for information density and that preference is not likely to change across channels.

As it currently stands, the user's preference is not even retained in the same session. Leaving the page and coming back resets to excessive-padding view.

On a more general note, please stop forcing white-space down our throats. No one likes or wants it. It's a productivity killer.

Agree. There needs to be a clear area on the title bar so we can grab and move the window. There is no need for the search bar to be so big given that most of the time you only type a few characters before choosing some result.
This is the one window on my desktop (among very many) that I struggle to move and manage. I have to move it all the time while collaborating because I'm working in other windows while chatting.

Since this is such a personal preference, I would offer that the only path forward is to allow the user to adjust the density. Make the default overly puffy if your UX people or focus groups insist, but this is being marketed as a productivity app. Allow users trying to be productive the freedom to increase the density. More density really does allow users the ability to parse information faster. Really. Scrolling is a pain. White space is useless.
    Thanks for listening.

Yes, please. At least with email, I could skim a message and get all the information. With Teams, i feel like i have to pick around and explore to get the whole story. Half of the information in the chat is hidden and gets missed. Not efficient communication. Is this the new workplace?

Yes please. Important information is getting missed because it is hidden. Why not default to expanded for new messages because the sender's intention was for others to see and read it. If the receiver wants to collapse it after reading it, then fine I guess.

Here's a thought. Keep this garbage out of a so-called professional app and out of the workplace. Let people find their own childish chat apps to entertain each other with stupid memes. The rest of us are here to get work done and would prefer not to pollute the official record with junk.

I would also like to request that the mute button not automatically hide itself. We should always be able to see the status of the microphone. As a matter of fact, how about we stop hiding buttons all together. It is very frustrating as a user to have to seek for things by randomly mouse hovering. Just dock the controls and leave them there.

This item is not currently under consideration, though multi-window is the works.

Please keep the feedback coming and I will keep bringing it to the feature team for review.

    Thank you!

I don't mean to hijack the thread, the the mute-microphone function also needs a global hotkey. It's dumb to have to scramble to activate the window in order to turn your mic on in a meeting.

Without this feature (like in SFB), it's nearly impossible to chat with people outside the meeting. We need separate windows for meetings and chat.
