There are two scenarios in which this is extremely useful:

    (1) An incoming call is received which requires conferencing in another party to add to the call. In this scenario, we'd rather speak (consult) to the person before we add them to the original caller.

    (2) Teams has no ability to send DTMF tones while adding a third party to a conference call, which means that when we add a 3rd party to a conference and they have an IVR/Auto Attendant facility, we are unable to select the options to reach them.

The workaround in Skype for Business was to put the first call on hold, begin a second call, inform the 3rd party they're about to be merged into a conference with other parties, then merge the call. This worked well. Until call merging is in place, this is a barrier to adoption for us.

The workaround in Skype for Business is to put the first call on hold, generate a second call, go through the Auto Attendant/IVR on the second call, speak to the person and then merge the two calls. No call merging and no DTMF option makes adding a 3rd party to an ongoing call impossible. This is a huge barrier to adoption for us.
