Kind of a local loop test call rather than over the internet. Which could also be a video/audio/screen recorder function too if there was control for start/stop.

Allow association of dial in connection to a Azure AD/Live account in real time, rather than depending on phone number being in Active Directory (which could be insecure, even if there is a verification process).
For example, allow me to press a * command on the phone to get a code number (voiced or texted to me), which I can then use with a command in Teams to "link" the connection and rename it to my name. (Arkadin has a similar feature, there is a command in video/screen share which gives a #number# command to type into the phone to link the phone into the session.
For a more durable default (e.g. for a phone line I own), create a way with Microsoft accounts to verify that a specific phone number is one that I own related to my account, so when I dial into a teams session it securely identifies me based on a AD lookup (allowing for the fact that a landline may need to link to more than one corporate account, but the dial in code for the meeting should deconflict it most cases, based on the corporate account that is hosting the meeting).
(Or at least verify the number in Active directory through some verification process with a code number)
