Thank you for all of the feedback around this feature! We are reviewing what the best path forward is for this.

Just so everyone knows in the meantime, teachers can absolutely review any student attached or distributed work in Assignments even if students have not clicked the ‘Turn in’ button. Some of the comments also mention that the work might not be done digitally and submitted a different way, students can also Turn in the assignment without attaching any files/resources or can use the Teams mobile app to take a photo of their paper-based work to submit digitally.

Finally, when you return the assignment as a teacher (even without the student turning in) the feedback loop is also closed. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your feedback! Chat can be a powerful tool in educational settings, but we understand that in some environments chat can also come with student safety challenges. To assist schools where educator supervision in chats is desired, we have begun the roll out of our new Supervised Chat feature.

Supervised chat allows designated educators to initiate chats with students and blocks students from starting new chats unless an appropriate educator is present. When chat supervision is enabled, supervisors aren’t allowed to leave chats and other participants aren’t allowed to remove them, ensuring that chats involving students are properly supervised.

We are doing a gradual roll out of this feature so it may take a few weeks to get to your environment. We expect to be fully rolled out by the end of May 2021.

To learn more, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/supervise-chats-edu (admins) or https://support.microsoft.com/topic/supervised-chats-in-microsoft-teams-for-education-ad3aaafc-c85a-416f-95f9-d691f419cbb8 (end-users).

    It’s important to note…

Yes! I know RenWeb supports Google Classroom grading integration for an added yearly charge, but I'd VERY much like to see this in Teams. This would ease the process tremendously for our teachers, not having to duplicate grading in multiple spaces. I had to use Clever as the middle man for the SIS Sync. It was quite a challenge and quite messy. It'd be nice if it worked directly with FACTS SIS. I know it's there for PowerSchool (for SIS & Grade Sync) and would love to see it for RenWeb/FACTS SIS. With FACTS having bought out and backing RenWeb, it'd be a good bet that RenWeb is only going to improve/expand.

Hmm. That’s not what their materials say.

    “Invite external guests to join
Schedule a Teams meeting with anyone who has a valid business or consumer email address. They just click the emailed link to join the meeting on a web browser instantly without downloading Teams or any plug-in.”

If it were exported to PDF or image, that would be the best method. From there you could insert it into a OneNote page or perhaps even on the Whiteboard in a meeting. OneNote is having syncing issues with Assignments right now but it doesn’t seem that would be an issue for your use case. The whiteboard is saved afterward as its own file, though if you’re recording unfortunately the whiteboard won’t be recorded in the video.

I know they are currently working on the ability to pop out the general chat window/pane (to be out any day now), so I think Teams will soon accomplish your goal.

Why isn’t the student sending a message inside the Meeting chat? I think that’s expected. Perhaps it’s a message intended to be private? Zoom allows for private messaging (unless a host/teacher disables it). Microsoft should look into that.

Try Cross-Posting. Draft the post in one team (with the attachment) and then cross-post to others.

This is already being done in Stream IF the meeting is being recorded. And it’s searchable and jumps to that spot in the video. It’s excellent. It could probably be copied and pasted from there. Regardless, since it’s done on the video it doesn’t seem like it’d be hard to generate a transcript separately.
