As we announced at Microsoft Ignite 2019 this morning, we are excited to confirm that Multi-window capabilities are coming to Microsoft Teams, and will start rolling out to the public ring early next year!
Alex & the Teams team
Received this from my IT team today in regards to pop-out chats.
The pop-out chat feature is coming soon. Some users do have early access to this feature because they needed an early release of the teams client to mitigate the issue of users with a # in their user account being unable to use the teams desktop client.
So, it EXISTS, but it's an upcoming release? Feel free to ask MS when this is going to be widely available.
So....I need someone from Microsoft to answer this. I have an employee in my org that appears to have a different configuration. He is able to DOUBLE CLICK on a person in the CHAT windown and it opens a POP OUT for that chat ALONE. I noticed in SETTINGS - GENERAL he has a "PERFORMANCE" value set to Normal. Nobody else seems to have this even appear on their screen...Can anyone else see this value? I can't even find anything talking about this setting.
Better question, how did you miss this to start? Where was your UX feedback loop? I was thrilled to move to Teams for all apps today...and I'm already hating it. Having to click back and forth between Teams and Chat is ____ (fill in the blank with non-positive feedback). I expected so much more. You can't build out a fully-integrated solution and remove functionality. That's not even an MVP. I might have to run Chat off my phone or something.
