Or maybe an images field on the toolbar, where it says 'Conversation', 'Files', 'Organization', 'Activity', add an "Images" field. It would be helpful and would save time to see shared images as a whole within a conversation.

To save time, users should be able to right click copy an image and be able to easily paste somewhere else instead of having to download the file.

With Skype users had the ability to search chat history like you would when searching emails. This allows users to look back at messaging to find specifics on what was said in detailed discussions and view images easier. I would also suggest a tab within chats, not just for files, but to show images posted like you would in an iOS text conversation.

Yes a differentiation between busy, in a call, and in a meeting, will help avoid messaging someone who then receives your notifications as interruptions. It would also be quicker than having to hover over the red dot.
