As the last status states, we have been testing for several months. Although many people have asked for this feature, we received a similar amount of feedback from other users that they prefer the Teams notifications and don’t want them changed. We are currently testing a feature for users to choose between Teams notifications & Windows notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.

User feedback for our company centers around presentations where presenters must be able to shut off notifications quickly and easily so that banner pops ups and sounds are not alerting while sharing a screen and with an open microphone. Adjusting individual Teams notifications is complex and inefficient for users. Windows Focus Assist is of some help here along with the Notifications shutoff, but won't affect Teams which makes little sense. I agree a simpler approach to the Notifications area in Teams would make this more attractive as a platform because its less bothersome to the user. Adding Teams Notifications settings to the Help menu might be one way to keep this less hidden since most users don't go into their profile area Settings after initial setup.
We are working on a design with more density in mind. Until this design is solidified we are putting this item back to Under Review.
