It's been FOUR #$*&(*& YEARS and Teams is still so badly broken that it can't even follow the most fundamental paradigm of of software: Documents open in their applications.

What kind of *****-smoking, brain-dead, drooling, incoherent, user-hating twit says, "hey I've an idea - let's make files open in a broken reader instead of their own app; and disable changing this behaviour!"

And worse, how massively incompetent does a company have to be before they are unable to unbreak this in a timeframe of FOUR BLOODY YEARS???

This is unconscionable. If MS can't get the absolute fundamentals right, then I weep for our future with computers.

Thank you for your continued feedback. We are continuously improving the clients to use less memory and RAM.

The upgrade to Electron 10 has rolled out fully to the public at this point. Telemetry and testing has shown that this is helping to improve memory performance on the client.

We will continue to work on improvements, and will share more updates as they become available.

For more details on how Teams currently uses memory, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-memory-usage-perf.

Teams is an absolute memory pig. From startup on, it consumes more than Spotify, VMWare Player (assigned 6GB!), and even McAfee - COMBINED!!!

Seriously, this is a disaster. I should be able to at least use a computer with 12GB.
