Well, this is the One Microsoft Way. Add new features that nobody needs continuously, but ignore what the community is asking for - 600+ votes feature is still under review for a year.

Dear Warren, please do ask your future team to work on features that are actually in the past. Slack has been showing beautifully short links for like all of ever, without asking users to jump thru hoops like creating hyperlinks and so on. Moving from Slack to Team has been a design shock that I've still not gotten over :-)

we have this!  ·  Warren responded

You can create add a hyperlink to any text, which will allow you to avoid massive links being copied into the chat/channels.
Expand the compose box by clicking the icon “A” with a pencil just below your compose line. Once in the expanded view you can create a link by clicking the icon that looks like a chain at the top of the compose box.

You can also highlight your text and use this function to change your selected text into a hyperlink. Once the hyperlink dialog opens update the link location and modify your text if you so desire.

    > There is another thread with almost 600 votes under 'shorter links' when you google - add your votes that thread:-)

Gee, wow. I'll peeps know there is another thread, but cant be bothered to take the slightest bit of effort to actually point people to it.

    Here's the other thread:

This is single biggest infuriating annoyance in MS Teams today. Its so annoying to see different formatting and text sizes get carried into posts and wiki when copy/pasting from different sources. This issue has been reported a zillion times, but Microsoft has all the time to roll out 100s of new (needless) features, but not solve one messy issue.

This was the original one, which says "completed". Obviously MS product managers have no idea what "completed" means: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/18779713-paste-as-plain-text-option
