    Posters below have said the same: please respect the system conventions. Custom notifications interfere with system ones and get hidden or fail to respect DND settings. Also they're ugly (sorry but true). I bet this is because it's just a web app in an Electron wrapper, which is why there are also no standard keyboard shortcuts.

    It’s not just performance. Native apps can take advantage of platform-specific features such as notifications, inter-app operability, visual consistency in window chrome, keyboard shortcuts and menu items. There’s every reason to make native apps, it’s a false economy to save engineering costs by building it in Electron

    It looks like the Mac version was written in Electron which means it doesn’t take advantage of many of the platforms’ basic features and interaction models (like properly formatted floating Preferences window, menu bar options), as well as making it more battery- and resource-hungry. I think it was a short-sighted and user-hostile (or at least user-careless) decision.
