Customizing the files view has been announced and is coming soon! This will include viewing metadata from document libraries and lists.
Here is the link to the blog post that details the features that are coming: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/rich-new-file-and-sharing-experiences-throughout-microsoft-365/ba-p/960129
This feature request is still in the works. No additional updates are available at this time. I’ll keep you posted as I hear more.
Thank you for your suggestion! We really appreciate the feedback and idea. We have reviewed this request and started working on it. I’ll let you know as it nears completion.
I really like the suggestion of creating an alarm on a message, so you come back to it. I’ve passed this on to our engineering team.
Meanwhile, here’s another feature you can utilize for the same purpose — use our “bookmark” button, which is in the upper right corner of every message. This will save that message or thread directly to your profile. To access your saved messages, just click your face in the upper left corner of the product. You’ll see a tab in the left rail that says “Saved.” This is like a list of little reminders.
Hope that helps! :-)
This continues to be on our backlog due to prioritization of other work items. We will update when there is more to share.
Use case: the moment private channels are thing, there will likely be many teams that wish to consolidate as right now much of our organization has private Teams and public teams for collaborating with others. Where once we have private channels we can have a single team with private/public channels -- the ability to move the channels over WITH their chat history as Teams get consolidated is extremely important to drive the adoption of the product and ease in transitions.
This would be invaluable when consulting with different business areas on their team/channel/SharePoint structure and finding out that we can merge multiple silo'd teams into a larger team -- the lack of keeping that prior history is a big drawback on getting folks to consolidate.
This is still under review by the feature team.
Wanted to share that we are continuing to make good progress on this feature. We’ll update as we have more details on timing to share.
Use case: team of 30 (tech folks, MD's, PharmD's, clinical editors, etc.) broken down out into 12 channels (projects/lines of business) would be far more effective if at the team-owner level you could define who gets notified when tagged no matter where the tagging took place (as long as those folks have access to the channel) -- even if team owners could customize who receives the @channel mention without requiring folks to follow the channel
Current workaround: build out your channels > have each of your members that you want to receive the notifications follow the channel > unless you want them to get notified of EVERY post then have them go in and turn off banner notifications for followed channels -- this makes it so they just receive the banner notification when someone uses the @channel mention
More context: when working with large amounts of less tech savvy individuals but they're crucial for business operations (like our larger Team with 182 members and 25 channels) having this level of control at the Team Owner level would greatly improve adoption and ease of effective communication.
Adding any emoji as a reaction remains under review.
I am marking this as partially done to let you know a new reactions bar with Like, Heart, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Angry has begun rolling out to all users.
If having custom emoji support is a very high LoE, please add in some emoji's that can be leveraged for "received request and looking" (used the eyes in Slack) and one for "request completed" (used checkmark in Slack). The thumbs up is not distinct enough and has already been conditioned to just being used as a "like" of a post
The use case are for all internal operations live assists contacts within larger companies. It's so much easier when you have folks on the same team, but working in multiple geographies, that are monitoring for communications from other business areas and they scan through easily by using the reactions to identify when someone else is already looking at a request/ask for help and they can jump to the next thread/post
It's a very simple feature but makes all the difference in making communication more productive and makes MS Teams far more applicable to workflow application.
Would be fantastic to have this feature, a number of teams at our company leverage the multiple Slack reactions to understand where a post is at from a workflow standpoint.
Ex: (1) agent from one team messages a group with a question (2) agent from the messaged team marks the message with "eyes" to let everyone else know it's being reviewed (3) marks with a check mark once it's complete
This feature item is still in the works. We will keep you posted as we have new info from the feature team.
