Our company doesn't let anybody outside of IT be a team administrator. If we have to go to IT every time we need to print a page of text, that pretty much destroys the utility of Teams for us. If other organizations want to set things up that way, that's fine, but it shouldn't be the only way to print.

For us this would be useful as well. There are times where we have to demonstrate that inputs to a system match values provided in an email or conversation. If we can't provide a paper record of those values the auditors get upset with us. We were hoping to use a Teams conversation for this purpose rather than email, but if we can't print that creates an accountability issue. When the message is longer than a single screen, screen shots get very messy very quickly. If Microsoft can persuade the courts in all 50 states to accept Teams conversations as legal records the issue goes away, but until then we have to comply with the law, which in some cases requires paper records.
