Thank you for your continued feedback. The feature team is actively working on this feature as well as doing work to give users the choice to open Word/Excel/PowerPoint files by default in Browser, Office app or inside the Teams app. We will share an update here as soon as one is available.

Great, it takes Microsoft 4 years to provide basic functionality that Windows has built in already.

Good to see so much development and resources pumped into a dead horse Microsoft. All these productivity apps worked perfectly fine separately - Word, Excel, SharePoint, Skype for Business - then you go and try and put an insecure shim over it built on an out of date release of electron for no real purpose that anyone can see other than to make peoples lives difficult.

Unless the new Teamsbook devices are about to be released... get ready Chromebook, Microsoft is about to make you look like a superstar :D

Seems like the only functionality Microsoft release quickly these days is 0-days because they have no quality control and are crowd sourcing their bug fixing.

Thank you for your continued feedback. We are continuously improving the clients to use less memory and RAM.

The upgrade to Electron 10 has rolled out fully to the public at this point. Telemetry and testing has shown that this is helping to improve memory performance on the client.

We will continue to work on improvements, and will share more updates as they become available.

For more details on how Teams currently uses memory, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-memory-usage-perf.

Does this thing have memory and handle leaks or something? How can a video calling app consume so much RAM?

Faster CPU's, more cores, much more RAM, solid state disks - all to support MS Teams...

Please focus on Skype for Business and abandon teams.

Feature teams have been finding unique areas of improvement around crashes/hangs/lock ups of the client, and have been making small improvements through both proactive and reactive findings to help around reliability regressions. If you happen to see any unique issues, please let us know and we will continue to share updates as they become available.

Application load time is something we are continuously working to improve, and the team is hard at work on fixes. We have validated a recent regression in application launch time that will be fixed in the coming weeks.

Teams becomes slow, unstable and frequently needs to be restarted to apply an update. This is unacceptable when trying to join a scheduled meeting. We're being forced to use this rubbish because Skype for Business is no longer available.

Suddenly we can see why Zoom has become such a worthy alternative.

A dedicated video calling app that just does it's job.

We are happy to share that Electron 10 is rolling out to the public ring now, so you should notice improvements. We expect overall performance of Teams to improve even further with upcoming fixes around the calling and meeting features We will share another update as soon as we are able to.

Lol, rolling an unsupported version a year after it went end of life - brilliant work.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_(software_framework)#Versions

How about you just Scrap teams and bring back Skype for Business.

Teams offers no value, it's just a wrapper for all the other products which work far better on their own.

Actually, Teams probably offers quite a lot of value to APT's .

The engineering team is continuing to work on adding support for multiple accounts on desktop clients. We will first launch support for 1 work/school account and 1 personal account so users can enjoy Teams for work and personal side-by-side. Windows and MacOS. Support for multiple work accounts is still being worked on and will come at a later date.

You can track status via the roadmap here: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=68845.

    Thanks!

So more SFB licensing will not be purchasable from 1st July 2019. (SFB Plan 2 standalone)

How does MS intend to fix the lack of voice/UC functionality when you're working in a guest tenant in MS Team?

At present, if you change to another Tenant's team as a guest, you become unavailable for people in your organisation.

When will Microsoft "Team" become Microsoft "Teams"?
