Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.
Really looking forward to this being improved too. I have Teams closed to the system tray with no Window open, and it still has four processes running totalling almost 500MB RAM, and 20% CPU.
Teams is great but in a mixed-age client estate you really feel this effect on the older machines!
Please check “Teams/Skype Consumer chat and calling interop” on the public roadmap at microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters.. for updates.
Please let us know when this is planned for. We're trying to get users on board with Teams but are really limping along here.
This is currently limiting our use of Teams - we'd love to fully adopt Teams but need to be able to video/audio call with consumer Skype users (i.e. those with a free Microsoft account such as *@outlook.com)
As many have said I think simply allowing video and audio calling would be a huge plus. We currently have to set up a consumer Microsoft account to facilitate this which is not good news for security and much more confusing for the user.
