In the Teams desktop app this works fine. In the online Teams you get a error the first time saying somthing like cannot use frames. But when you open an other Tab and go back you see the folder content. We use the same function to add an Excel document als TAB. This works only in the Teams desktop app because Excel cannot be used because off frames.
Our Company has a document structure with Metadata set to Mainfolders. The files Tab cannot be redirected and the add Document library can only set to document library and this without Metadata and view functionality. We use the add webpage feature as a bypass
Go to the filestructure in SharePoint that you want to use, click on the 3 vertical dots, copy link, Go to teams -> Add TAB -> Website -> Give a name -> Paste the link. You now have a tab with functionality to a folder in the Documentlibrary with view an Metadata ability.
This (customise the location of the files general/root folder) and bringing metadata and views to teams would be a great help in the user adoption.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this feature request has been declined.
As a company IT administrator, we like to use our own Projectmanagement document structure where we put our files. Therefore it would be very nice if there was a possibility to set a existing location to the files Tab. That way we can better search trough our files and build views with selections over the whole structure
Lars, there is a workaround. If you add a Tab "website" and you copy the link from the folder you get the possibility to use metadata and views. But the online version of Teams has some issues with frames.
