I agree with other posters that we need a section in either the Teams Admin Center or the SharePoint admin center in order to do administrative tasks without having to join every team in our tenant.
Our users aren't familiar with modern team sites, and I can't assist them as a SharePoint administrator because I can't access their teams without joining, or requesting to join, and then leaving.
The feature team is still working away on this feature request. No new updates at this time.
This feature request is still being reviewed. The team is working hard to make numerous changes with regards to notifications, but they haven’t forgotten about this item.
I hope to have more details soon.
Please add to the comments if you are experiencing this. I would like to know the OS and device you are using as well.
I’ll bring this feedback to the feature team and help get this investigated.

I am the Owner of a Team and have it Favorited but get no email notifications. All of my settings are set to banner and email but I have only ever gotten one notification - and it was for a missed chat. Some other users in my Team have followed the channel and then gotten notifications.
It seems really onerous to me to have to be the Owner of the Team, Favorite the Team, and then follow the channel in order to get any notifications.
