We have rolled out a fix for improving Mac performance while in a meeting. This should help with heating and perf issue on Macs.
Please update your client (Settings→check for updates). Let us know your feedback. There are other performance improvements we are working in parallel, we will share updates as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your continued feedback. As many people have pointed out, this is available on mobile today. Support for replying to a specific message is on the backlog for desktop. I’ll let you know when we have progress to share. Thanks.

Thank you for your reports. We released client and service updates this week, that address many MacOS-specific performance issues. We are also aware of recent performance issues with Microsoft Teams meetings, especially on laptops and when using external monitors.
The team is working to resolve these issues. In the meantime, please find troubleshooting information here: https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/known-issues/teams-slow-video-meetings-laptops-4k.

Also experiencing massive memory usage (Over 1GB memory). Uses double what Skype does and that is already a lot in my mine sitting at around 500MB memory.
Please get this sorted sooner than later..
P.S Updates for macOS are too few and far between as well. Seems to be on a month to 2 month cycle. -

We are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)
You can learn more about the new Microsoft Teams Public Preview program here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview, and Teams administrators can find documentation to manage which users will see the Public Preview option here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreviewAdmin

So annoying getting "Teams notifications" while in DND and in a meeting or screen casting in meeting/presentation on my Mac!
Really need this feature. Seriously considering deleting the native app and use the web version only at this rate.
Please please.. get this feature in!

So frustrating! For a App that is supposed to replace Skype .. it is very lacking.. Especially this particular aspect of not using native MacOS notifications! Please can this be addressed Microsoft!

Once support for Windows 10 native notifications is released, users who choose to use Windows notifications will be able to utilize Windows OS specific settings for the length of time to display notifications. Mac does not have an OS specific setting, so will not have the support.

Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.
