NOTE: Only tested with Outlook 2016 Desktop Client.
- Open Teams
- Click on your Profile icon and select Settings
- Under General, check the box next to "Register Teams as the chat app for Office (requires restarting Office applications)"
- Restart Outlook Desktop Client
Now you can see the Teams online status of a sender/recipient directly in Outlook and you can also reply to an email via Teams by selecting "Home > IM > Reply with IM" (see attached) from Outlook's ribbon menu at the top.
However, I've noticed that Reply and Reply-All both only open an IM reply to the Sender.
