Thank you for your votes and comments on this feature. The team is in the process of finalizing designs for deleting private chat threads. I will update as we have more progress to share.

'eDiscovery and other legal reasons' should be on a per-customer or per-team basis. Not every company is subject to the same record-keeping requirements. 'Private' should mean PRIVATE, not subject to Microsoft's eDiscovery.

Thank you all very much for the great response. The survey is now closed. The feature team will be reviewing all the data that was gathered and responded based on the findings.
Again, thank you for helping us make Microsoft Teams the best it can be.

Currently we have Teams defaulted to show you the first (up to five) channels ever created. If you want to add more channels to your left rail view, just click the ellipses next to the channel name and select “Favorite”. When you favorite the channel, it will then be “pinned” to your left rail under that team name.
Try that and let me know if that meets your needs!

The 'favorite' workaround doesn't work for Teams with only one channel. I have several teams with just a 'General' channel, which I can't favorite. The teams all show up in collapsed view in the list.

Why does it take so long for such a simple request to be reviewed? It's basic. It's causing a loss in productivity. People are asking for it. Your competition already has it. So make it happen.

Updating the status to “Try this instead” and have added the clarification that after 30 days the name is once again available.
The reason for this decision was that Channels can be restored 30 days after being deleted. During this time, we intentionally don’t support creating a channel with the same name. After the 30 days, the name is available.
You can workaround this by restoring a deleted channel, renaming it, and then deleting the channel again. The previous name is then available for use.
This workaround has already been mentioned in the comments and if an immediate reuse of a Channel Name is required, this is the recommended solution.

This feature request is still being worked upon.
I am still trying to get details on what we could expect for Cortana in Teams and will share examples once something is available.

I think a flat non-threaded view option should be available as a user in ALL channels. Threaded view works for some people. For me, it makes things VERY difficult. It also would eliminate the need for that 'reply' link under every single message.

Goodness yes! Need this so much! And could we get consistent behavior when we click on a team name? If the team has only one channel, clicking its name will by default display the channel. If it has 2 or more channels, clicking the name only expands/collapses the list of channels. But any time I click away from a team with only one channel, that team collapses. The inconsistent behavior requires a learning curve just to use the product, because sometimes I have to click the team name and then select the channel while other times I just have to click the team name.
