Thank you for your votes and comments on this feature. The team is in the process of finalizing designs for deleting private chat threads. I will update as we have more progress to share.

@marc-gehri I think it's getting increasingly frustrating, the lack of engagement, updates etc. GDPR has been with us for a while now and Teams in my view has never been compliant. Raise a complaint with you local data protection authority.
Interestingly I was unable to find any mention of this feature on the official roadmap, certainly not in the development or rollout sections:

Can't believe....
1. This wasn't considered important enough as to part of MVP
2. No progress has been made on this in over 9 months
3. You're actually breaking the law in the EU, GDPR right to be forgotten.Anonymous

Its an absolute joke is what it is.
Months finalising a design means that they didn't ever consider it and now they're struggling to implement it.
Imagine Outlook without delete.
The Teams product and development teams should be highly embarrassed by this.
