Thank you for your feedback! The team has reviewed this request and has added it to our backlog for both Standard (Public) to Private and Private to Standard (Public) channel conversion. We will share an update as soon as it’s available.

To those complaining its been on the backlog for 6 months - there are things that have been on the backlog for 2+ years. Being on the backlog really doesn't mean you should expect to see it anytime soon - it just means they agree it would be a good feature to implement.

Similarly, in channels, we should either have this or nested replies. Channels bring us the ability to have multiple conversations going on at once, by starting new conversations separately, but inevitably new conversations form within those conversations, and it's difficult to let those conversations play it in the single thread. All social media platforms know this. Facebook has one level of nesting which is significantly better than 0, twitter and reddit have seemingly infinite nesting.

Facebook is a good example. They only nest one-level deep though. If user B, C and D replies to user A, their replies will be nested under user A's reply. If anyone replies to user B, their reply will not nest under user B's reply, it will just continue to sit under user A's reply - but it would automatically tag user B, which is helpful.

Twitter and Reddit both allow infinitely nested replies (Reddit's may not actually be infinite, but it's got a very high limit if it isn't.)

Forums don't typically use nesting but do allow "quote-replies", which means it will automatically include the message that you're replying to in the content of your own reply. Personally I think nesting would be better, but "quote-replies" would be an alternative option.

1,000,000 times yes. Some channels don't need subjects, but some channels absolutely do. We use a couple of channels in an org-wide team where anyone can share an update from their teams/departments. Some people are complaining that their messages aren't being seen by as many people as they were on the old platform we used before moving to Teams - these are the same people who are not setting a subject on their posts. And it doesn't matter how many times you teach people about the compose box and the option to add a subject, they simply forget about it. Would be great on these channels for us to set subject as a requirement.

I agree with the decision not to let users change font from one message to another, however, for accessibility purposes it seems reasonable that a user should be able to change the font that all posts are displayed as for them through an account setting or something similar.

I wouldn't want notifications for meetings in channels to be on by default, but I would definitely want people to be able to enable notifications for meetings in channels. This would make the channel meeting functionality significantly more useful.

Honestly, the amount of times I've sent a GIF that turned out to have an ending that completely changed its meaning is insane. This is a very silly design. It's almost as much of a problem for communication as the problem with the visual delineation between a reply and a new post that you've been working on for years and still not fixed. I'm vexed btw.

We want this feature and NOT because of people mistakingly starting a new conversation when they should have replied. (Please just change the UI already to fix that problem!)

Sometimes a conversation is started by someone who missed the exact same conversation a week or 2 before. Often though, they'll add a new perspective or piece of information, so the conversation continues in their new thread. To avoid covering old ground, and so that everyone can see the full conversation easily, we'd like users to be able to somehow "link" the new conversation with the old conversation - whether that is a simple merge of the 2 threads or by some other means.

A native polling option would be great, even if it was basic. Polly has become confusing to some users and features a big promotion to get the paid product which isn't a nice user experience. We could use a Microsoft Form, but something that was quicker to create and could be embedded in the message would be much nicer.

On the light theme, not a single one of the colours meets AA accessibility standards. Now, to be fair, you can switch to the dark or high contrast modes to solve this problem if you have any sight problems - BUT most of them aren't even close to being accessible, and I, with my perfectly good eyesight find it difficult to read some of them, and annoying to read the rest (on light theme).

Below is a table, including the official AA accessibility rating (4.5 required to pass) and my own personal rating from 1-5 where 1 is extremely difficult to read, and 5 is extremely easy to read (on the light theme):

    Colour (AA): Rating
    #deb7ca (1.78): 1
    #b197cb (2.57): 2
    #6888c9 (3.52): 5
    #64c6ca (2.00): 3
    #9ed267 (1.76): 3
    #fcd116 (1.47): 2
    #ec8f45 (2.44): 4
    #f0f2f4 (1.12): 1
    #16233a85 (N/A): 1;

As you can see, I, with my perfectly good eyesight find only 2 of them easy to read.

Bear in mind, we don't all have fancy retina display macbook's, many people are still using rubbish 10 year old monitors.
