We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
First of all, congratulations! Hope you and your child are good!
About the request, here is my idee / use-case:
A new team is created called TEST-TEAM, this team has 10 members (including 1 owner).
We can divide the 10 members into 2 groups:
1) Members (people how need to access / change / delete etc)
2) Viewers (or called guests) (People how only need to view (in the channels that have been selected for that viewer, by default all channels) because of their role, for example: a intern or a director how needs to see the status)
There are options to limit the members, but the goal is to simple add or remove viewers.
A viewer may open, copy a file / folder, start a conversation about a file or in the conversation tab, but can never delete or change an file!
You can compare the rights to the slack build-up see this link: https://get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/201314026-Roles-and-permissions-in-Slack
We hope you will let us all know if this is going to be build and if so a realistic ETA.
(please note that this request is already from November 2016)
