You can search inside a specific channel by going to the channel, putting your search term in the search bar, then pressing enter on your keyboard. Then, you’ll see below the search bar a little tab that says “In this channel”. If you click that, you’ll see all the search results for the term in that specific channel.
If you have any questions, just tweet me at @skprufo.

Agree. This a primary limitations vs email. Once I read something it is marked trad and has no priority vs all other messages. I need to mark for follow up and then see my marked queue.

Any update?

We already have a sharepoint folder structure for the team, we need to point the channels to that rather than creating more document libraries to scatter files across.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this feature request has been declined.

Please explain what the workaround to avoid file storage confusion is then.
This is a significant, but easily fixed, impediment to adoption.

We’re currently working on defining a compact mode experience. I will post more details when we have more to share.

As mentioned in the prior status, the channel limit was raised from 100 to 200.
In the near future a retention limit will be set so you can still go back and reinstate a channel you had deleted. Once the retention period has expired then the channel will get a hard delete which will free up the space and no longer count toward the 200 channel limit.
This will help with some of the issues you have voiced in the comments below.
But I understand many of you wish the limit to be further increased. I will continue to provide your votes and comments to the feature team.-Warren

Please raise this limit, or allow is to configure on our own. We need to use one channel per project and will hit 200 in about a year. There isn't a limit on sharepoint directories so why the teams count limit?

Thanks for following our suggestion to vote this up on SharePoint. It worked! SharePoint has confirmed that they have already started working on this and I’ll be getting an ETA from them after the holidays. -Suphatra

Yeah, this doesn't work. On mobile for example if I am in a channel there is no search option from there
