The ability to tag a distribution group in a chat or meeting is one of the bigger barriers to adoption of Teams. It seems so odd to have this feature in SfB but not in Teams.

A core function of SfB that's still missing from Teams.

That's really a shame that this got moved to the backburner again. I posted my homegrown fix last year (35 pages of comments ago...) and am reposting for the benefit of the community:

I found a workaround. By opening the SharePoint library created by Teams in Windows Explorer, I was able to drag-and-drop libraries from existing channels into the new, replacement channels.

We will lose the conversation history, which is acceptable. We will have access to the historical tasks through Planner, and any incomplete tasks will be recreated in the new channels.

It's not as clean as moving the entire channel would be, but enables us to restructure our teams and channels without losing (or manually recreating) documents and libraries. Not a bad workaround.

It's been some months since the last Admin update, I'd love to know if this will land on the roadmap.

I know that it was recently posted that this is in the hopper. I want to weigh in on the importance of this feature to a new user of the Teams platform.

My division is piloting Teams for our organization of 3200 O365 users. We have multiple departments in our division, and workgroups with members of multiple departments (like most of you probably do).

We planned extensively before launching it, and really thought we structured it well. We didn’t.

But adoption and saturation happened so fast that there’s no good way to untangle it. We could easily create Teams and Channels the way we want them, but the prospect of migrating the documents and libraries to the new channels, and having to manually link or recreate every task, meeting, wiki page, conversation etc. is daunting. People would rather stop using it and go back to Sharepoint and email for everything.

Being able to move channels to a new team would solve all of this.

Adding email as a left tab panel remains under review. We are working on adding several Teams and email integrations:

    - Share to Teams: Share a copy of an email and any attachments into a chat or channel directly from Outlook

    - Share to Outlook: Share a copy of a channel or chat conversation via email directly from Teams

    - Actionable Teams Activity Emails: Teams missed activity emails display the latest replies and allow you to reply directly from Outlook

See this post for more information:

    Thanks!

if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.

Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.

Yes, I very much want this feature to be added. You can chat with an AD distribution group in Skype For Business, not having this in Teams is a notable loss of functionality.

All employees in our department are members of every Teams group for information and document sharing, but sometimes I need to chat with our own workgroups and not everyone with rights to our team/channel.
