Please give the option to open links to webpages in Teams or in the browser. In an educational context you want to keep as much as possible in Teams. When you add a link to a webpage, you want it to open in Teams - to keep the learners in a familiar environment.
E.g. You enter a link to a webpage in a post, it will open in a separate browser window. You create a tab with a link to a webpage, it will open in Teams unless you prefer it to open in a separate browser window. I would like a link in a post to behave the same way. You don't want to have to create a tab for each an every link you want to open in the Teams app.

This should be combined with the suggestion "Use a group tag to assign an assignment" which is essentially this same as this one. The referred to suggestion was created 4 days before this one and has more votes. (See https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/599053-schools-and-universities/suggestions/40104394-use-a-group-tag-to-assign-an-assignment )

Thank you for your feedback! Chat can be a powerful tool in educational settings, but we understand that in some environments chat can also come with student safety challenges. To assist schools where educator supervision in chats is desired, we have begun the roll out of our new Supervised Chat feature.

Supervised chat allows designated educators to initiate chats with students and blocks students from starting new chats unless an appropriate educator is present. When chat supervision is enabled, supervisors aren’t allowed to leave chats and other participants aren’t allowed to remove them, ensuring that chats involving students are properly supervised.

We are doing a gradual roll out of this feature so it may take a few weeks to get to your environment. We expect to be fully rolled out by the end of May 2021.

To learn more, please visit https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/supervise-chats-edu (admins) or https://support.microsoft.com/topic/supervised-chats-in-microsoft-teams-for-education-ad3aaafc-c85a-416f-95f9-d691f419cbb8 (end-users).

    It’s important to note…

The messaging policy that is applied in a vertical relationship between owner and member (teacher and student) i.e. this idea - should also be applied to the calling policy (one on one). We have the same situation there.

I work around the limitation by adding a Feedback document when I set the assignment, which I set to "Students edit their own copy". This I can then later edit individually to provide personal feedback. You can even do this after the learners have submitted. Just edit the Assignment and add the Word Feedback document. Importantly - you need to set it as "Students can edit their own copy". It will get pushed to the Assignment. However, now and then I would like to add more feedback, such as a personal video. Alas! That is not possible!

if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.

Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.

Definitely a need. There are currently more than 8000 votes. This clearly indicates this feature request as high on Teams users list. I hope this is getting someone's attention.

The ability to turn off emojis is still being worked upon.

Also, there is work to create a compact mode which will also help reduce white space… which in turn will impact some of the complaints are far as wasted space from the emojis as well, that have been voiced in the comments.

    Stay tuned for more details.

We need this function please: To turn off emojis. In some settings these are inappropriate.

@warren Why was this view changed? Previously the Assignments tab at the top showed the assignments for that one team and Assignments button on the left showed assignments across all teams. This is how I would expect it to work and the two supplement each other well. Now the button on the left is almost similar to the tab at the top since you can only see the assignments for one team. This is not very useful. It would be better to see all assignments chronologically arranged by due date.

The Assignments button on the left used to show all assignments - please bring that view back.

I use the /GOTO command in the Teams command line (at the top) a lot.
Additionally, if there would be tags that can be included in the description and one could use those in searching for the channel it would be fantastic. The description field has this help text: Provide a description to help others find the correct channel. I tried it out, typing: /GOTO and a word from the description. It did not appear in the list. This is how I would have imagined it would help someone find the correct channel.
