Thank you for your continued feedback. The feature team is actively working on this feature as well as doing work to give users the choice to open Word/Excel/PowerPoint files by default in Browser, Office app or inside the Teams app. We will share an update here as soon as one is available.

This is very much needed. I'm sick now of some users choosing my training Team's general channel (yes, the irony!) to schedule their meetings in. I've tried the training approach, produced guides and articles, etc but they continue to do it. It's infuriating and a huge waste of my time contacting each of them, getting them to delete the meeting, then tidying up the channel (as best I can, some messages related to the meeting can't be deleted)/.

Absolutely this. We have a shared "Public" team for training material sharing, as well as Q&A from the support team, however users out in the business insist on choosing the General channel in this Team when they are creating meetings to my great annoyance. I've produced training material to tell them not to do this, I also post announcements in the channel saying don't do this, and then respond to everybody who schedules a meeting in my channel telling them to delete the meeting and not to do it again. But it continues. It's infuriating. Could I perhaps make the calendar in that team read only to members or something like that?

If Microsoft are unwilling to fix the caching issue in the Teams desktop client, or at least make it check for updates to user information more often than it does now, then a simple way for users to clear their cache is very much needed.

Hi — My apologies for the delay in updating this item. We rolled out a fix a year ago for a specific issue of status changing to away in Teams when you were still active on the device. We thought this had fixed the “incorrect status” issue. From comments below, it sounds like people are still seeing issues.

If you are still having issues, it would be super helpful if you can capture logs by typing Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 1, and send the file from your downloads folder along with device info and detailed repro steps to teamsml@microsoft.com.

    Thanks all!

This continue today and is RAMPANT across our organisation. Other users show people as Away when they're not, Busy when they're available, Available when they're in a Meeting, etc. All using the Teams Windows client. I suspect this is caching related, as when I run a cache clearing script I put together on affected people, the issue goes away temporarily and the correct status is then shown.

Very much yes. When you're trying to scroll back to look at previous posts, the constant loading and buffering is annoying. Can it not pre-load more so you never run into this? The amount it actually keeps loaded in memory is woefully inadequate, especially considering the exorbitant amounts of RAM this app uses already.

Thank you for your feedback. Our performance team is working on improving the overall performance of the Windows client. We expect to see performance jumps in the latest version of Electron rolling out (Electron 10).

The app is overly slow on Windows, which is probably due to the huge amounts of resources it consumes. During a Teams meeting with screen sharing and several participants, RAM usage can balloon to nearly 1.5GB of memory usage, and you often see the whole CPU pegged at 100%, though task manager does seem to only show Teams using around 30% at that time. Still, 30% constantly is huge and is excessive when compared to similar services from other vendors.

Teams is an extremely resource intensive application, and I can't really see why, other than for inefficient coding of course.

There's nothing to do here. You can already disable self-signup, which you find inefficient, on your tenant.

How is this still a thing? The most basic of functionality, to copy and paste a list of email addresses to the invitee list of a Teams meeting and have it handle that, rather than treating the past and one single person with a massively long email address.

I've tried everything to format the list to make it treat it as separate people. Paste into notepad, ad commas and semicolons after each address, etc. Nothing Works.

    Pretty disappointing Microsoft!

This is required. No company can justify paying for Project Standard just to have team members view a project plan, its £400 a person! At the very least Microsoft needs to release a free, or low cost viewer, preferably a web viewer like they have with Office online and in Teams.

Automatic status changes are a pain. If I'm do not disturb mode, last thing I want is for it to change into "In A Meeting" because that allows people to bother me with notifications again. Worse still, quite often it reverts back to Available after that meeting finishes, rather than the status I had it set to before. Then I wonder why I'm being inundated with messages and calls again. Grr!
