Thank you for this feedback! Fortunately, this feature already exists. Just drag and drop items in the order you desire.

Let me know if you have any more questions on this!

@admin: Somehow the drag-n-drop option has stopped working. Please fix!

Agree. And a To Do tag could be treated as unread formatting, i.e. highlighting them in the saved messages section, similar to the Activity section. All too often, messages that still not some follow-up work get lost!

Love the idea. The biggest gripe I have with Teams right now is that you can easily lose track of important messages. Once you start connecting with many team members and channels, you will have lots of different messages to keep up. Currently, I end up marking messages as Unread if I need to get back to them because they take a longer time to resolve. Bookmarking/saving such messages would be another option, but only if such messages are in clear view (in the sidebar) and remind you that they still need your attention.

Killing several birds with one stone would be to make the side bar customizable. Allow the user to decide what is shown in the sidebar and in which sequence, very similar to the Windows taskbar on the bottom-right of Windows OS screens. That way users that are frequently using Planner or Wiki could also include these apps as quick direct links in the visible (!) side bar.

What best practices are recommended when following lots of teams and channels and ending up with lots of notifications that require my attention? Is the bookmark function the way to go instead of read/unread marking? If so, bookmarks should be more visible in the main interface as this would be a section that needs to be frequently reviewed. Please share best practices.

if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.

Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.

Absolutely agree. The more apps you integrate in Teams, the more annoying the clicking and switching between apps becomes. To make this work properly, you would almost have to use the Internet browser principle of having different tabs for active sessions, i.e. not the existing tabs within a channel but tabs for Planner, Wiki, e.g. two active channels, a chat, etc.

I just tested this again and the following seems to be the problem:

On Windows 7, you are alerted about new messages even if you remain in the same chat thread but are no longer on Teams (i.e. working in another application). In the bottom right section of the screen, a pop-up appears for a few second with the new message content and once this pop-up disappears, the Teams icon in the taskbar blinks.

On Windows 10, however, the behavior is different and it is easy to miss new messages. New messages in the active chat/channel thread are not alerted or highlighted when you are in a different application. Teams apparently thinks the user is still actively using Teams and therefore does not require a pop-up alert with subsequent blinking of the Teams icon. Hope the developers can clean this up.

We are working on the release of the Tasks application in Microsoft Teams that will aggregate data from Microsoft To-Do, Planner and Outlook with more capabilities on the way. You can see Planner data in Kanban views today, and the Tasks app will continue to support that view. In January we announced task publishing which will release with the new app. Get an overview at https://youtu.be/rTATVGroEsQ.

Users should be able to configure exactly what shows in the Files section that is shortcut in the left side panel, e.g. adding favorites for certain SharePoint (sub)sites, additional cloud storage (not just out of the box), allowing both Business OneDrive and personal OneDrive to be added here.

Adding email as a left tab panel remains under review. We are working on adding several Teams and email integrations:

    - Share to Teams: Share a copy of an email and any attachments into a chat or channel directly from Outlook

    - Share to Outlook: Share a copy of a channel or chat conversation via email directly from Teams

    - Actionable Teams Activity Emails: Teams missed activity emails display the latest replies and allow you to reply directly from Outlook

See this post for more information:

    Thanks!
