Apparently there is a pop-up alert when trying to perform this action from Teams, but not when performing the same action directly in Planner! If the alert pop-up is the intended solution, please also apply this fix when making task assignment changes directly from Planner. Thanks.

Oh my. Just came across this too late. This led to a major data security breach in our company. Assigning a non-member to an integrated Planner plan should either not be possible unless the non-member is officially added to the Teams group, or the Planner assignment should have not give access to other data within that Teams group. In our case, by assigning a non-member to a Planner task within a private team made lots of confidential information available to this non-member. What a mess! This is a serious data privacy issue and needs to be addressed.

Clearly display in standard interface how many messages are saved and await action. Marking each message that requires further action as unread is a risky practice because they automatically change to read again.

Please show bookmark section in left navigation bar as default icon (or better, allow user to configure shown icons in left side similar to configuration of Windows taskbar) and add reminder functionality and/or integration with MS Planner/MS ToDo.

    Anonymous commented  ·

Absolutely. The bookmark features is quite useful, in principle. But only if you can retrieve them quickly, similar to browser bookmarks. Currently you have to click on the user avatar to get to the bookmarks. Suggestion: Simply provide option to get to the bookmarked items and chats via the left-side panel with all the other shortcuts. Plenty of space there.

@admin: Please expound on the newly added external access setting "Users can communicate with Skype users." This seems to indicate that what we are looking for is already there. However, we are not able to add regular Skype addresses as contact.

    Anonymous commented  ·

This is good news. We have had such a difficult time to gain acceptance with Teams because it supposedly incorporates all relevant tools in one platform ... but then we had to tell the users that Skype is not included, even though it is a Microsoft product and specced down chat tool. Reducing the number of open applications, particularly Microsoft products, is the strategic approach of Teams.

    Anonymous commented  ·

Forcing corporate Teams users to chat in two parallel worlds is surely not what Microsoft had in mind when launching Teams as the new collaboration platform. There are connectors for all kinds of third-party applications. Why not add the integration of the Microsoft-owned product Skype?!?

    Anonymous commented  ·

Our staff is pretty confused by the current Microsoft IM product strategy. They are told to use Teams as their one-stop shop ... but wait, it isn't. Because their Outlook online interface still has an integrated Skype for Business shortcut (not Teams!) while they need to have a separate tab open to run Skype Online for their external consumer contacts. Unless you crush the consumer version of Skype, people will not switch to Teams, even it is free.

    Anonymous commented  ·

This means that Teams will not be the promised single environment for all collaboration tasks. That does not seem to be in line with the advertised mission statement.

We have been using Teams for a while now but our customer service and project management users have to coordinate their communication on Teams and Skype (consumer edition) simultaneously because Teams does not support the IM/chat (with call function) with Skype consumer users. Please reconsider this decision.

Hi everyone, the engineer working on this item has left the company and we’re working on replacing him. I wanted to give you that heads up because the work has paused, which extends our shipping date.

I really appreciate your patience as we work to get this back to actively worked on.

Should be possible to differentiate between interface language and proofing language for content/conversations. Currently, spell check is limited to interface language as overall language setting.

Thanks for following our suggestion to vote this up on SharePoint. It worked! SharePoint has confirmed that they have already started working on this and I’ll be getting an ETA from them after the holidays. -Suphatra

The same is true for Planner plan names. When changing the Planner tab name in Teams, one should be prompted whether the Planner plan name should be changed as well, or only the tab name in Teams.

It should be possible to reset the corresponding SharePoint folder path in Teams. The automatic creation of a new root folder on the SharePoint site when creating a new Teams channel creates too many folders and makes SharePoint seem cluttered and unorganized. Several things should be improved in this connection:
    - Allow Teams channel owner to determine corresponding SharePoint folder path for files when creating the Teams channel
    - Allow Teams channel owner to change corresponding SharePoint folder path at any time, e.g. after reorganizing SharePoint folder structure
