It's unfortunate that there are several user voice entries for this viewpoint/suggestion, and therefore, there isn't a true, sense of the total number who actually think this is a good suggestion. It would be interesting to see what the total is and how much it would grow if all of the entries were combined into one.

Incidentally, rumor has it that channels are to become site collections to accommodate the desire to mimic Slack. Another who new nightmare in the making. If you think folders are confusing and anti-productive....just wait!

    LisaJo commented  ·

Subfoldering eventual obscures the content and can effect Search. It makes so much more sense to make a channel create a library. Could institute the ability for individualized security for the channels, which has been a big request. Metadata and views/filters would actually work.

Rene Steen: your Chrome extension appears to be working for calls started from within the chat window. Thank you.

That leaves my question regarding the call features that are accessible via the phone icon on the left for our users with the assigned phone numbers and all the bells and whistles that go with that. Currently, those features are not visibly available to our users. Can someone shed some light on this please. Thanks!

    LisaJo commented  ·

Users using Chrome with the TEAMS web app (i.e. F1 users) cannot create a call via the phone icon in a chat. If it worked in December as you stated, it doesn't anymore. Now it says 'this doesn't work in this browser' and 'switch to Edge or the desktop app. No more reference to switching to Chrome. I also noticed that the phone icon on the left is not visible in any browser for users with the fully functional call package. Shouldn't it be enabled and functional, at least in Edge? The only time that phone/call icon, on the left, is visible is in the desktop app.

    I have Chrome 73.0.3683.103

Can't believe that after all this time of how 'bad' folders are in SharePoint that MS would even use them in such a fundamental way and limit a good significant number of the best features of SP from being exposed directly in TEAMS. Seems to me to be a bit of a brain **** so I must be missing some fabulous overriding advantage that all of a sudden, with TEAMS, makes them a good thing.

I have synced a TEAMS enabled site to my File Explorer but if I try to save as or drag a file from one location (desktop or ODB for example), it says I don't have the permissions to do so. I am a tenant admin and owner of the TEAMS site. What more do I need???

It looks like some people in the thread below have figured it out — we actually have this. You can start a chat both ways; the system will automatically recognize if this person is on Skype for Business or on Teams.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

This is still not working right for the coexistence modes (SfBwithTeamsCollab, etc.). The presence between Outlook, Skype and TEAMS is not consistent and, in Outlook specific, OWA and desktop, there's no status whatsoever displayed.

Hi everyone — we have implemented this on the web version.

We will not be implementing it in the desktop app or mobile app due to other high priority engineering items.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Make the waffle, in general, work the same as it does in every other O365 app, but, at least, please change the SharePoint link in the waffle in TEAMS (browser) so that it leads to the SharePoint homepage instead of the root site of the tenant.

If only the General channel referred to what it meant: general. The group email address should be the email address for this channel and emails sent to it should be dropping into the Conversation. In this way, Conversations in Outlook GROUPS would be included in the Conversations in the General channel. While I agree with the idea of the availability for choice, visible or not, I think this would solve a lot of the 'pain' that is felt as a result of creating via TEAM app and not having interactivity with the GROUP email. It's created automatically....why not make use of it??

These two access points are going to exist for quite a while yet---might as well let them get along and not create more confusion.

Incidentally (or maybe not so incidental), if Files in the General channel in TEAMS revealed the All Documents view of the library, that would solve the disconnect between Outlook's GROUPS 'Files' and TEAMS 'Files'.

needs your feedback  ·  Warren responded

I would like to gather some more feedback about this topic. I understand the request is for different colored notifications but I wanted to see about your feedback on the different icons.

We currently have different icons depending on the activity you are being notified of.
Such as a direct mention in a channel with have the “@” symbol, letting you know you were @ mentioned.
A lightbulb icon lets you know about general activity within a channel you follow.
A chatbox icon appears when channel is mentioned that you are part of.

And so forth… do these icons help you understand the notifications or do you feel color differentiation is also required?

Let me know in the comments of this topic thread. Thanks!
    -Warren

OK...you asked for it... ! LOL

Icons only go so far to gaining my attention and, therefore, alerting me to new content. I never seen a lightbulb for anything and if they have appeared, they never caught my eye. When I notice that some kind of icon has been added to my TEAMS app (presuming I have it on top) and I click on the bolded chat/channel, I'm still not sure which is actually new when I look at the content.

I know I'm one person but colors would work better than bold (sometimes bold doesn't look bold for some fonts or font sizes). So some suggestions would be

-Change the background color of the unread/new chat to make it pop on the screen,
-Change the font color of the text for a new private chat in the left column,
-Add a background color to or change the font color for the TEAM and channel in which the new content is located.
-Focus the view of the chat so that the new entry to which the notification is referring is centered on the screen (that's not a color but it would help me find the new content faster),
-Put a bigger boundary/box/frame around the new/unread message.

The biggest problem I experience, though, is that because I multitask in other apps than just TEAMS and I don't have TEAMS on top of my screen, there is often nothing that tells me there is new content unless I manually, remember to check it. And, I'm sorry to say, a highlighted TEAMS icon (which is a color added) in my task bar isn't doing the trick. I have more than 1 monitor and if I'm focused on the work I'm doing via the second monitor, I don't see the alert/notification on my main monitor. Admittedly, I have this problem with Skype, too, but anything that can be done to keep it persistent, periodically flash, something to draw my attention to it upon changing my focus back to something that is on my main monitor would help make TEAMS better than Skype in this matter.

Then, there's the whole question about immediate notification if I'm offline, notifications appearing on my phone but not on my desktop app, and vice versa. Just making them more obvious and persistent (meaning bugging me.... LOL) would help. Humans are designed to be attracted to things of color more than things that are not so please just add some.

When I view my private chat I have had/am having with someone, it is, albeit slowing, continuing to scroll up until I am unable to see the chat I just added/sent/typed. I can't seem to find a way to make it stop.

Is anyone else experiencing this? If yes, I would call it a bug even if it was meant to be a feature, I find it quite annoying.

This is a deal-breaker for us. We will have to postpone enabling TEAMS if this kinds of inconsistency isn't eliminated ASAP.

    LisaJo commented  ·

We can't be alone....who else has issues with this 'completed' request?

    LisaJo commented  ·

Here's what I've experienced. If I'm not just missing a subtle setting or procedure, this needs to be fixed. VERY confusing and misleading and wrong.

TEAMS->Meetings->Schedule a new meeting does not show the checkbox to allow you to choose NOT to invite all members of the Team. It does show the option to select a Channel. This will send an invitation to anyone who has Favorited and/or Followed (can't tell which yet) even if you don't need them to attend. The only way to control this, I think, is to not associate the meeting with a Channel (which seem counter-productive and counter-intuitive), leave that options blank, and just invite each person individually. BUT!!!! The meeting does not appear on the GROUP calendar! Only in my personal calendar. ARGH!

If I open the GROUP calendar via Outlook, I DO see the checkbox and it will allow me to uncheck it (as long as no individuals have been invited yet) BUT AS SOON AS I INVITE AND INDIVIDUAL, THE CHECK IS RE-INSERTED INTO THE BOX, and the box is disabled so that I cannot remove it! Which means that all members of the group are invited no matter what I do. I even invited someone that is not a member of the GROUP (interesting in itself....) and it still re-checked the box and disabled it.
