This is REALLY important and really struggle to understand how you can not browse any Document Library or Group site. If we are asking staff to work from a sharepoint site or group or even files saved within a team, they MUST be able to add them directly. We want to start using Teams and assignments for homework but I cant ask staff to download a file from a document library to their laptop and then upload it to an assignment.
A targeted calendar might work for things like this, that way they could be used for other things too? Would be a nice addition.
This feature request is still being reviewed by the feature team. No new details to share at this time.
There really needs to be a landing page for each Team which can be customised (preferably centrally) to suit, much like a SharePoint page.
This really would help people engage with Teams, at the moment people think Teams is just about chatting with each other.

The sharing of such files will need to be done via the O365 app (word, excel, etc) as it follows the logic defined by the Office app being used.
Here is a video which provides some guidance – https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Video-Share-documents-in-Office-365-1438f676-ee5c-40cb-a1f3-f814e649d2ea
I quite like this idea. Do you think it could work if you could keep your original file in your OneDrive and be able to really easily add link to that original OneDrive file? I think it would have to be seamless for the user.
