Due to prioritization of other work-items this has been moved to the backlog. We will update when it is being actively worked on again.
This feature was first requested 4 years ago. 3,153 votes later, and it still hasn't been implemented (put on the backlog). You can do better Microsoft.
We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
This is the one main feature that is preventing my organization from using Teams. We NEED the ability to manage individual channel permissions and invite members outside of the team into specific channels.
This is a must have. We've created project channels within my team, and we absolutely need the ability to invite non-team members to specific channels within the team to collaborate on that project. We are trying not to create separate teams for every single project.
We are still considering this feature for future releases, and will continue to update the status when it changes.
