The feature team has this on their backlog officially now. We don’t have any timing to share at this point, but we will keep you posted.
Alex & the Teams team
Yes you should definitely bump this feature request up on the road map. I know its not your fault if people choose to drive dangerously fooling with their phone trying to join a meeting from the road, but it happens nevertheless and all it would take is a clean, simple android auto/carplay compatible app that provides the means to join the meeting you are scheduled to be in right now. Make sure there is a big, fat, easy to use mute button because many of us need to listen more than talk and the other participants don't need the background noise from the road. DO NOT OVERLOOK THE MUTE FUNCTIONALITY, there is just as much danger with people fumbling with their phone in one hand trying to mute and un-mute while driving as when they are trying to join the meeting. I underscore this because you have famously screwed up the mute in the past, and not to get off on a tangent but it is not acceptable to have to poke the screen or wave a mouse to get a mute button/icon to appear, it NEEDS to just be there, always. If you ***** this up people will continue to drive dangerously and/or I will continue to have to bear with the background road noise of people calling in from the road. THINK about how this is going to be realistically used when you do the interface.
This would fix the frustrating issue of not being able to recall the call controls at the end of a 12+ person meeting, the call controls hide themselves after each person drops off which they are doing slowly and painfully one at a time as we all fight to get the stupid button up long enough to mash it and release ourselves from this awkward end-of-meeting nonsense you have created. WE NEED PERSISTENT CALL CONTROLS ON THE MOBILE VERSION, STAT!
I agree, this is another example of Microsoft failing to understand the needs of its users just because their needs are slightly different than what they want within their own company. When 10+ people join in on a call from 10 different, potentially noisy environments, we need to mute and un-mute frequently to avoid injecting unwanted background noise into the call. Its stupid that the call controls disappear and have to be summoned back. I would advocate that this should not be a setting, the call controls should simply be visible at all times during an active call, period. That goes double for the mobile app. There is PLENTY of room for those buttons to be on display continuously.
I agree, the slow performance of this app on a brand new, top-of-the-line computer is unacceptable. This app needs to focus on doing its primary job well before getting into a bunch of useless-to-most-of-us add-ons. This app should start like lightning and clicking around in it should be blazing fast, I should not have issues starting the app three minutes ahead of a meeting and having to stress about how long it takes to initialize and get into the meeting.
