I want to like Teams but the lack of density makes it so difficult.

My company has a ton of different teams and they are not going away. We have teams for technologies (i.e., Data Center, Cloud, Storage, etc., etc.), we have teams for various internal groups, we have teams for individual customers, we have teams for specific projects, etc.

Teams collapses everything almost immediately so I have to click on every **** thing to see anything. It drives me crazy.

Notifications suck. I can’t tell whether or not a channel under a team has been updated without clicking on every **** thing again. I have to constantly unhide channels in order to see them.

Slack does this reasonably well--certainly better than Teams does. In Slack I can click on All Unreads and, well, see everything that is unread. Activity *could* do that, but it doesn’t actually and I can’t figure out why.

Microsoft has never been shy about copying from other companies before--why haven’t you done this with Teams yet?

This is another example of how Teams handles information density poorly. I should be able to find teams to join without getting carpal tunnel from scrolling. I should be able to tell just by glancing at the user interface if there is something I want to see, but instead I have to click all over **** and back.

It’s frustrating, and it’s something that at least some of your competitors do much better (i.e., Slack).

To pile on a bit, both collapsed conversations and channels are annoying as ****. I constantly have to click on them in order to figure out if I need to pay attention, and I am constantly missing conversations.

Yes, a really long conversation takes up a lot of space. For every one of these, I see a couple dozen with somewhere between 3-6 replies and I have to click on each and every one of them.

Teams shows promise, but the user interface makes it way too hard to do things that should be easy.

In theory Activity could do this, but it’s more of a feed. There doesn’t seem to be a way to get it filtered by unread.

    Which would be really useful!

I mean, I work for a reasonably large company. There are a bunch of teams that I would like to follow. In order to actually do that, though, I have to click around and it is such a pain **********.

The lack of this feature is one of the reasons I have asked my boss if we can use another tool (like Slack).

We have a ton of teams, and either I have to look through the app all the time to find a new comment *or* I miss things I wanted to see.

(I am not going to get into other annoyances, like the fact that Teams keeps showing me collapsed threads or that there is no way to permanently unhide all the channels under a team. Teams is such a nuisance.)

Microsoft has three issues here. First, the defaults do not meet a large percentage of user needs. I personally want to come into a meeting with video and audio off; a lot of my meetings are presentations.

Second, it’s difficult to change the **** defaults, which is a real problem. Users have different needs! Let us set our own defaults to meet them. Make it easy to do that. (And quit hiding the settings--I don’t change settings all that often and have to hunt down the settings I need, which is a pain **********.)

Third, a presenter does not have enough control over what the audience does. I am so ******* tired of hearing a presenter ask everybody to mute themselves. If they need to use a different type of call in order to be able to mute everybody, that’s a design flaw.

On the positive side, kudos to Microsoft for allowing us to turn off incoming video.

Should have specified not in full screen mode. Full screen mode does seem to remove video, which is good, but it’s harder to find the chat window and the controls still pop up when you move the mouse.

Yeah, this is seriously annoying. I am on a big team and there is almost always several people on vacation or travelling or whatever.

So I'm on a call and Teams is simultaneously telling me that my speakers are muted while I'm struggling to find the volume controls because the call is extremely loud and it's not going through my plugged-in headphones.

I finally found the sound settings in Teams to fix this, but seriously this was annoying. The default settings are there for a reason.

This problem is enough *by itself* to keep me from recommending Teams.

One of the things my group uses Teams for is to share certain shared spreadsheets which we need to update on a regular basis. This is a tedious process that most of us hate--made worse by the fact that Excel doesn't behave like it should.
