There is a concern with having staff and student 1 on 1 calls (with or without video) because of possible allegations later of inappropriate conduct. Is there a policy available to record all group calls or calls that are 1:1 so that the district is able to provide in case of a public records request?

The chat and call function has the ability to transform communication, however schools need the tools to limit student use of chat/call features and also monitor content. Our district like many others have turned off chat/call features for students to prevent unsupervised student to student communication. This has reduced the ability for staff and student engagement with Teams including virtual Telehealth services. We need permission settings for students to use chat but only those created by teachers, student to student chat needs to have a permission setting to disable.

Are there any updates on this feature? It would really help with distance learning because many of the textbook resources teachers will assign students in Teams are pdfs.

Thanks everyone for your feedback on this. As more educators look for ways to create secure assessments (especially remotely) this is one of the options we are investigating.

Many of the textbook resources available to teachers are in,pdf format. Teachers need the capability of adding .pdf worksheets to a teams assignment so that students can open the assignment in Teams and edit, ink, annotate on the pdf worksheet. Unfortunately, teachers are only able to add certain office file types to assignments with the option to allow students to edit the file. While some teachers are able to convert the pdf file to a word document, many teachers are not comfortable with this process or don't like to do this because pdf documents don't always convert nicely to word docs. This would be a huge help for all math, science, and social studies teachers that need students to fill in worksheets that are in pdf format.

The new Office app for Android has the capability to annotate pdf files without having to leave the application. This type of feature in Teams would be amazing for teachers and students

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We are planning to increase the limit for uploaded files in Assignments! I will be sure to update you all as this feature progresses.

We assisted a music production teacher last week since he was having problems collecting large files via Teams assignments. We asked him to have students drop their files directly in the files section in a projects folder we created OR to turn in a link to the project in OneDrive. Both options were not as ideal as having the students submit the assignment in Teams but we understand that these are exceptions to the norm in our district.

Thanks for all of the feedback on this one. We are reviewing how we can improve notifications around Assignments in Teams. Please keep the feedback coming!

The teachers we've talked to would like a notification when a student resubmits work or turns in a late assignment. One teacher created a O365 Form that students fill out when they have resubmitted work or turned in work late. The form ask students for an explanation of why they needed the extra time to submit the work.

Unfortunately I need to switch this back to Under Review. The feature team is investigating how best this could be implemented.

Thank you all for your continued feedback on this feature! We are still evaluating options, so for now the ‘Posts’ tab remains the default first tab for every team.

Great suggestions so far in the comments, but please do continue to share how you would use this feature so we can better understand the use case for our planning.

Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.

I found some interesting information on a JAMF blog related to Teams and high CPU utilization that was really interesting. https://www.jamf.com/jamf-nation/discussions/31727/microsoft-teams-high-cpu-utilisation.
