Hi, nice to see private channels available but the whole premise for private channels is to add people outside the team. A private channel within the team is not very useful to be honest. We need to be able to invite members outside the team and guests to a private channel ASAP.
Having guest access at the channel level also means it would be possible to add company staff not necesarily in the team or needed to view all team channels but just a single channel. It would be very handy to have a feature like this to invite staff to channels within a team instead of the whole team.
I agree. I'd like to see permissions at the channel level as well as at the group level. We have a team/group with several channels and I'd like to be able to spin up a new channel and allow people outside of the team access
Thanks for following our suggestion to vote this up on SharePoint. It worked! SharePoint has confirmed that they have already started working on this and I’ll be getting an ETA from them after the holidays. -Suphatra
Any update from anyone? Has Microsoft gone to sleep?
Can we have an updated, the holidays are long gone now since this post was updated
This is still being worked upon. I hope to have more details in the next couple months.
Please know the team is actively working on this feature.
The feature team is still reviewing, there is lots of discussion about this item and I hope to have a decision soon.
As stated in the last update, the ability to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time is being implemented in stages for Desktop. Faster tenant switching functionality on the Windows client has been rolled out to the public ring fully, and Mac will begin rolling out soon. Work is in progress on cross-tenant notification improvements, and support for multiple accounts on desktop will follow. We’ll keep you posted!
Note: The ability to use multiple Teams accounts at the same time is supported on iOS & Android today.

This feature item is still in the works. We will keep you posted as we have new info from the feature team.
Due to prioritization of other work-items this has been moved to the backlog. We will update when it is being actively worked on again.
We are still considering this feature for future releases, and will continue to update the status when it changes.
