We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
You're right Mark: I think we all can understand what you're saying, but the thing is we don't have info about progress on the feature implementation. Just look at when was the last update from MS Teams: 3 months ago. Don't tell me they are not making any progress! They could at least give us something, even a chunk of info.
Soon 20 THOUSAND votes and still no news from MS. This is disrespectful for all of us who took time to express the need of this feature (2 months since last update). Does anyone have a way to escalate this issue?
When is "later this year"? I think we deserve some info, at least to know if this feature is really being relased this year. The one place where details about this feature should be disclosed has to be this thread -nowhere else-, where people spend time to express their needs and/or frustration.
The one thing I don't understand is the time we've been waiting for not even having an approximation of the availability of the feature. Last update was October (nearly 2 months ago), and we were given the chance of asking questions directly to MS. I take this a bone for keeping us waiting for something that may never come.
Suphatra, last update was 2 months ago. Could you please let us know what is keeping you from releasing this feature? The update frequency is not adequate!
I personally stopped waiting for the feature to be launched, they just want us to change the way we use the app. Deal with this.
We'll have 10K votes in no time at this rate, and still no idea of when the feature is to be released! This is ridiculous.
I don't want to miss the 10K vote party! The way it is going for now, we won't see the feature coming anytime soon.
No ETA so far? They say the feature is in the works, but what are the other features with the same status? A year and a half for something already available in the competition software. That's not acceptable to be left without answers.
I need someone to explain me this situation: I don't understand why this topic is still pending. This is the #1 topic in terms of votes, meaning that there are A LOT of people waiting for the feature to be implemented and, so far, no progress or updates.
What I understand in the last feedback from this Warren dude is that they are not actively working on it, or at least they're not telling.
The key in a project is communication and I think you guys lost sight of this tiny little thing, which is a shame when we think your software helps communicating between individuals.
Hi Warren (or anyone working for Microsoft who reads this message), please give us a feedback on this issue. We're so many of us waiting for a reply on when the feature is said to be released, we need to know when we'll be able to move on on our projects.
It's been a month since the last post from Microsoft team. Could you, at least, let us know how are the testing phase going? What is blocking you from releasing the feature? We are so many waiting for that and until we have it, we're creating multiple teams when a single one with included channels would be enough. This is ridiculous.
I agree, we need to have a update!
Any progress on this Warren? Thanks for your help on this!
As a response to Dave Upton, if you contribute to this thread, you should have received an e-mail in your mailbox about this survey. But I understand that the short period of time for assessing the survey is clearly not enough.
Survey done! I agree with Mike and the last comment: team owners should be able to see everything within the team, whether the channel is standard or private. If you don't want someone to see a particular channel, that means that this person does not need the owner status and therefore, you should switch his/her status to "member". That is just my opinion.
What I don't understand is that this topic is on for a year now and we don't see any progress. The only thing we want to know is WHEN this is going to be released. Or at least a more precise ETA because early 2018 is way too vague (especially when we were told that after the NYE we would be provided with more details and ETA.
Please help us on this, there are high expectations on this tool and so far, I'm disappointed and would rather use Slack (I personally use it for personal projects) due to this lack. In my company, there is a project I'm working on that can't be fully launched because of this. I'm sure I'm not the only one stuckin the same scenario.
Don't count on any updates, at least for now, I contacted 2 different people in Microsoft, they say "there are no public commitments". So, unless Suphatra shows up here or replies to the questions she prompted us to ask on Twitter, nobody will answer our question.
I sent multiple messages, to Suphatra and Elaine Ansell (a person who was involved at some point last year, since she gave details and replied on another thread), no news. The same Elaine told me "We don't have a date to share of when this will be available". This is really disappointing. I don't understand why this is taking this long. I'm using Slack for personal projects and you don't even have to make a channel private, when you're not the one who created it, you can't see it. Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer, but until when?
No news for now, I twitted her, no reply since then. Is there anyone else we can contact to get info?
Hi, if someone has info to share. I just twitted Suphatra, waiting for a feedback.
Can't wait to have this feature enabled! Please make your best to release it early next year!
Please make this happen, it is so much more convenient to export data directly from a visual!
