This feature request is still being reviewed. The team is working hard to make numerous changes with regards to notifications, but they haven’t forgotten about this item.

Yes, I will second this suggestion. Honestly we are looking for similar Skype functionality. The application blinks/persists orange until you click on the tab where your notification is. When you chat in a channel, or a document the notes get lost/not found because the comments can be in so many places/tabs. There needs a better way to see the comments. we figured out that if you @channel name and then use the reply button to comment back everyone keeps getting the notification but if you type into the normal char box is does not notify. If you are in a group chat, and trying to take notes in One Note, it is very difficult to see the comments. We have been very successfully using the team to share the One Note and keep notes during client meetings, but when we want to chat with each other during the meeting we are still having to use a separate application because we do not get the chat pop up notifications unless you first tag the person/channel/team notifications.

I have had really spotty success with @Person working for me. I can't seem to figure out why sometimes it works and other times it does not. I think it might be a performance problem where the system is still thinking about whatever I have typed and not catching up.
To add to this, you can download a document and then manually email it, but you cannot directly email the file to someone outside your team. I do like how the attachment is presented in the email and forces internal users to go to the team to open the file and view/edit the file. But if you send that email to someone outside of your team, then that link won't work and it is really confusing because it looks like an attachment. We are working on content development projects with clients who cannot access the team, but ideally I would like to be able to share the document with the client when it is finished. One thought I had was to add a check box option on the Share dialog to say share as an attachment instead of a link. To take this idea of sharing even further, one day once I can invite my clients to channels within the team it would be cool if I could share from one channel to another channel. With the idea being that once my document reaches a certain status the client can see it but until then it is only for internal use. This might be achieved by having an internal and external flag on the documents/folders as well. I really need a more efficient way to handle the sharing of documents with external sources for the team to be a good solution to use moving forward. (PS we have an average of 50-100 document per project so the downloading then emailing technique is really messy).
Agreed, I have one channel in a team that is primarily file driven and I want the file tab to be first. I would also like to hide the conversation channel in some channels to drive the conversations in one place instead of having to look in a bunch of different places in the same team.
