This feature is utterly useless. Just now, a team I was actively working in yesterday was automatically moved to hidden.

I have no idea what criteria is being used to automatically hide teams. It's certainly not activity since teams one was actively using just a few hours ago would not be hidden.

Please Microsoft Developers. Do think before you implement automation that is disturbing workflow. An if you think you have to make things "smart", do provide an option to the user to say no.

As we announced at Microsoft Ignite 2019 this morning, we are excited to confirm that Multi-window capabilities are coming to Microsoft Teams, and will start rolling out to the public ring early next year!

    Thanks,
    Alex & the Teams team

    Richard Stevens commented  ·

Teams needs multi windows support urgently. To be honest, I have no clue what the goal of the current design might be. The more you add to teams (multiple teams, additional apps), the more likely it is that you need to do something in teams while doing something else. For example, a task in planner requires update of a document. One has to leave planner to get to the document. Same is true for chats, conference calls etc.

It's really ironic that a design like this comes from Microsoft. If I remember correctly, back in the days, you designed an operating system that allowed users to move beyond doing one thing at the time. You even named the thing WINDOWS. Teams (in some ways) is returning to the pre-windows days and it's highly frustrating and inefficient. Please fix urgently.

try this instead  ·  Suphatra responded

Currently we have Teams defaulted to show you the first (up to five) channels ever created. If you want to add more channels to your left rail view, just click the ellipses next to the channel name and select “Favorite”. When you favorite the channel, it will then be “pinned” to your left rail under that team name.

Try that and let me know if that meets your needs!

2,5 years in and the sidebar is still as unusable as it always was. This is really sad.

    Richard Stevens commented  ·

I can only second this request. Favorites are a different functionality. Yes, they might work as a workaround but seeing all channels at a glance helps a lot with navigation.

This is important. The web apps in their current form are
    - slow
    - unsuitable but for the simplest of documents.
    - very reduced in terms of functionality

They get in the way of serious work and break workflow.

This feature request is still being reviewed. The team is working hard to make numerous changes with regards to notifications, but they haven’t forgotten about this item.

I hope to have more details soon.

Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.

I can only agree. This is really important. I only have 15 or so channels in 3 teams so far but it's already quite a chore to identify activity in channels when I'm not explicitly notified.

As Saxet mentioned this is somewhat expected behaviour and should be implemented similar to the unread message count in Outlook.
