You can create add a hyperlink to any text, which will allow you to avoid massive links being copied into the chat/channels.
Expand the compose box by clicking the icon “A” with a pencil just below your compose line. Once in the expanded view you can create a link by clicking the icon that looks like a chain at the top of the compose box.
You can also highlight your text and use this function to change your selected text into a hyperlink. Once the hyperlink dialog opens update the link location and modify your text if you so desire.
@Christian - are you still having issue with the wiki and hyperlinks?
@Brent H. - If you click "A" icon just under the compose box you will enter a format mode for the dialog box. From there you can type a word or phrase, select the text then select the "chain" icon to hyperlink the text you added. In the pop up box add your hyperlink and update the text showing as needed.
This should be working via the web client.
Can users confirm if you are still having this issue? Please let me know in the comments below.
Ack, that's no good.
Thanks for the feedback. I will follow up with the feature team about this!
As mentioned in the prior status, the channel limit was raised from 100 to 200.
In the near future a retention limit will be set so you can still go back and reinstate a channel you had deleted. Once the retention period has expired then the channel will get a hard delete which will free up the space and no longer count toward the 200 channel limit.
This will help with some of the issues you have voiced in the comments below.
But I understand many of you wish the limit to be further increased. I will continue to provide your votes and comments to the feature team.
The ability to turn off emojis is still being worked upon.
Also, there is work to create a compact mode which will also help reduce white space… which in turn will impact some of the complaints are far as wasted space from the emojis as well, that have been voiced in the comments.
Stay tuned for more details.
Ben - After typing an emoji if you hit CTRL+Z it will revert to alphanumeric characters and will send as such to your recipients.
I hope that helps a bit!
There seems to be some confusion around how this works. First off the ability to delete messages is off by default.
The IT Admin who setup the Teams environment will need to turn on the admin ability to delete messages. Once they have enabled the functionality, admins will be able to delete user messages.
If your IT Admin as enabled it and you still are having troubles please let me know in the comments below.
Performance has been and continues to be a big focus area for Teams. One main area we have made improvements in is responsiveness for the most frequent user actions of switching between Chat, Channel, and Activity. We are also focused on reducing resource consumption and application load time. More improvements are on the way.
This update is specifically targeting the Giphy selector scenario and the memory improvement is seen in that case. We have numerous memory improvements in the works which all work to improve the overall memory usage. Unfortunately I don't have any details I can share at this time. However, I will post more updates as soon as I am able.
