I've noticed that referential integrity is a huge issue throughout Teams, any update on this one?

    Hi Warren,

Can you please provide an update on this? Is it in active development or ... ?

I'm being asked to create a joint (MS Teams/Sharepoint) structure for this and because there's no merge function yet or other ability to move things around in teams, I need to know if I have to build individual teams or can use channel level permissions at any point in the near future.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Please consider compliance issues.

Many times our organization is required to be able to provide documentation of our work, which users being able to delete whole conversations would complicate substantially.

At a minimum, it needs to be (a) something we can disable and (b) something where we can get a log of deleted messages in the event of lawsuits or other such events.

    Thanks in advance.

This feature is still being reviewed by the feature team. No decision has been made yet. I’ll keep you posted.

    Respectfully Disagree
They serve very different functions. The teams area is a public conversation, the chat is a private one. Having separation is a good thing for our organization. I know some people like Slack, but it doesn't have to be that way... it can be better.

As the last status states, we have been testing for several months.  Although many people have asked for this feature, we received a similar amount of feedback from other users that they prefer the Teams notifications and don’t want them changed.  We are currently testing a feature for users to choose between Teams notifications & Windows notifications.

We will update you as work progresses.

Please keep thumbs up as a single-call out, we can always reply with whatever content we want, but it is useful for our organization to have a simple "I've read this" response - which is what we're training our team to use MS Teams for. If you do make a change, please have an added 'reaction' to the thumbs or change the thumbs to a 'check' or something like that.

Also, this would needless complicate the UI layout with reams of faces, I cannot imagine it's worth the engineer's time to do this just to be like Slack.

if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.

Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.

This feature also serves as a work-around for the sharepoint issues. You could create a set of triggers:

    a) when you rename the sharepoint folder, it creates a duplicate team channel and moves all the location pointers as appropriate; and

    b) when you go to move a team - it creates a duplicate sharepoint site and file library (including versioning and so on) under the new name and deletes the old one.

We are working on the release of the Tasks application in Microsoft Teams that will aggregate data from Microsoft To-Do, Planner and Outlook with more capabilities on the way. You can see Planner data in Kanban views today, and the Tasks app will continue to support that view. In January we announced task publishing which will release with the new app. Get an overview at https://youtu.be/rTATVGroEsQ.

Adding email as a left tab panel remains under review. We are working on adding several Teams and email integrations:

    - Share to Teams: Share a copy of an email and any attachments into a chat or channel directly from Outlook

    - Share to Outlook: Share a copy of a channel or chat conversation via email directly from Teams

    - Actionable Teams Activity Emails: Teams missed activity emails display the latest replies and allow you to reply directly from Outlook

See this post for more information:

Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.
