This work is officially in the plans now. We will update as we have more information for you.
Improvements to day/work week/week view are in the public ring. Our focus now is a new scheduling experience and scheduling assistant, appointments and more.
For feedback related to Group Calendar please see this User Voice item: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16933204-include-office-365-group-calendar-in-teams.
The team has not made a decision on whether to move forward with this feature. We will update when we have new status to share.

Hello everyone, a quick update on our work to integrate Teams Assignments with the Microsoft Calendar
-its coming! We’ll provide an update shortly with dates. We know this has been a top request for some time and there is a team working on bringing this to Teams for EDU as soon as we can. An error occurred while saving the commentAnonymous commented
I am testing an online course and when I add an assignment in TEAMS it only allows me to post the due date - therefore my students will not see the assignment until the due date. For example: I just gave them instructions to create a business card. They have 2 days to complete this assignment, however they won't even be alerted that it was assigned until the due date. You can create an "Assigned On" icon and then an "Assignment Due" Icon for the same assignment.
