    Microsoft Outlook does this.
    Hipchat does this.
    Slack does this.
    Nearly every reputable company that creates products for (cr)Apple does this.

    Or like AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Skype, Google Hangouts, Slack, Trillium, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Discord, any modern game-platform company (e.g. Steam, Blizzard Entertainment, EA, etc), Hipchat, and most IRC clients.

    These are just a few off the top of my head. It's really helpful to have this simple feature with a distributed workforce.
