I must say, after working for two companies that used Slack, having to switch over to MS Teams has been a real disappointment. This app is so far behind Slack, it's almost embarrassing, especially when this request has been "under review" since 2019. <facepalm>

Thank you for your reports. We released client and service updates this week, that address many MacOS-specific performance issues. We are also aware of recent performance issues with Microsoft Teams meetings, especially on laptops and when using external monitors.

The team is working to resolve these issues. In the meantime, please find troubleshooting information here: https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/known-issues/teams-slow-video-meetings-laptops-4k.

Same problem here. After reading that Teams had the option to disable GPU, I was hoping my company could switch from Skype to Teams to prevent the crazy slow-down and fans spinning on my Mac. Unfortunately, even with that option disabled, I can clearly see a process appearing in Activity Monitor named "Microsoft Teams Helper (GPU)" whenever doing a video call. As one can then expect, the fans start going crazy. So that disable GPU option doesn't appear to actually do anything.

And just as others have said before, Zoom and Slack don't exhibit these problems when doing video calls, so this is clearly an issue with Teams, not my Mac hardware nor macOS.
