We are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)

You can learn more about the new Microsoft Teams Public Preview program here:, and Teams administrators can find documentation to manage which users will see the Public Preview option here:

OMG you're right Alex. Thank you for the correction and sorry for the typo, I was getting crazy trying to reproduce it. I fixed the original comment. Also, as an alternative to Charles, it also works with Proxyman :)
@Roman, I'm curretly using the preview, I haven't tested on any other version, sorry.

Hey microsoft, please do it soon, it's getting ridiculous.

For those of you (like me) who are tired of waiting, after digging around a bit, you can force-enable it by rewriting on the fly a https call used by the teams client to sync its settings with the server.
The steps for me were basically:
    - install Charles Proxy on my mac
    - trust the CA for the proxy to enable HTTPS proxy
    - launch Teams and check that you can see the HTTPS request going to the microsoft server
    - enable the rewrite feature of Charles Proxy
    - you need to rewrite the response of the call at the url: with this: "settings":{ into "settings":{"enableNativeNotification":true,"enableMacNativeNotification":true,
    - then start Teams, go to the settings and you should see the new option
