I have this issue but in my case (unless I misunderstand how Teams works) there user isn't external.

We have a meeting policy in place for our students to prevent them starting meetings so that only staff can start a meeting. Even after enabling "IP Video" in the meeting policy that was applied to students it was only when enabling "Let anonymous people start a meeting" were students able to use their webcams.

This doesn't make any sense as students are a member of our organisation (and the Team in which the meeting is taking place) and as such sign into Teams with their organisation account so I cannot see how enabling "Let anonymous people start a meeting" allows students who are not anonymous users to suddenly use their webcams.

Due to a priority shift this request has slipped to the backlog. I hate to bring bad news. I will continue to provide the feature team your feedback and votes.
Hopefully this will move back up in the queue soon.

This can be done by setting a messaging policy and calling policy and applying it to students. The downside is that staff will no longer be able to chat to students and would have to use a channel instead.

Thanks to all of your feedback and thanks to our partners and their tireless efforts, we’ve made it possible for you to now set up a Microsoft Teams meeting for your online classroom directly from within your learning management system (LMS).

This new capability allows you to quickly enable remote learning for your students and faculty by bringing the power of Teams directly into your LMS. We already have integrations launched across the world’s top LMSs; Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Schoology, and itsLearning!

Learn more about these new integrations and get started today here; https://educationblog.microsoft.com/en-us/2020/03/microsoft-teams-meeting-creation-now-available-in-canvas-blackboard-schoology-brightspace-and-itslearning/

The best part is this is only the beginning because as Teams evolves, we’ll continue to improve our LMS integrations as well. Thank you!

Yes please! Really need this ability to prevent students from starting a meeting before the staff are in.

It would be great if the lobby option had the ability to "only allow members of this team/channel to bypass the lobby" as the current option is targetted a guests and too broad in education.

In May we introduced a new user setting, Only me, that meeting organizers could select when configuring the “Who can bypass lobby?” setting for a Teams meeting. We are now making it possible for you to set Teams meeting defaults in your organization so that only meeting organizers can bypass the lobby.

Your IT admin will now be able to set “Automatically admit people” to Organizer only

    Please note

When set, only the organizer can join directly; all attendees will need to enter via lobby
Once this is your tenant default, it applies to all new meetings created by the user. It does not affect meetings set up prior to this change where Meeting options were updated.
To change the lobby setting for previously created meetings, Meeting organizers can select Meeting options in the meeting invitation for each meeting they schedule.
For additional guidance, see Student safety meeting policies: …

You should be able to do this by applying a meeting policy to students which should prevent them having access to the meet now button but should allow them to join meetings setup my team/channel owners.

The current method of creating a chat and call policy and applying that to students is a little clunky. It does prevent students from messaging each other but also prevents teachers from messaging them. It would be nice if we could enable teachers to message students but not student to student messages.

Thank you for the feedback and waiting for this feature with patience. We have enabled download of a meeting attendance list during a meeting. This is released for general availability. Please note this feature is turned off by default, and needs to be enabled via admin policy.

See documentation for this feature here: https://support.office.com/article/download-attendance-reports-in-teams-ae7cf170-530c-47d3-84c1-3aedac74d310

Note: We are continuing to work on enabling download after a meeting has concluded, as well.

    Thanks.

Yes please, we want to use the Insights tab and currently it requires the team owner to add the tab on each time. Would be great to script this via PowerShell.
