Just did the survey, but now see it’s really old. Being able to change the general channel name to something relevant would be great. Being able to delete it after other channels are created works serve a similar purpose.

Thank you for your feedback! We are updating this as “Partialy Done” as our first step to solving for pinned posts has been released! Pinned posts allows users from a team to pin a message for everyone in the channel to be able to easily reference. While any message can be pinnable, we expect our users to use this feature to pin information like channel guidelines or important announcements. We know this doesn’t solve all pinning scenarios, and that there is still a need to make this easier for users to find, especially within the message list. We will share another update as soon as it is available.

To learn more about showing channel info in Teams, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/office/show-channel-info-in-teams-61c3319d-a2c0-4b60-99b9-3226b9e248f9.

“Pinning a post should 'stick' it at the top of a channel so it is the first post anyone sees when they come to that channel. Having to search for a pinned post defeats the purpose of pinning it. Those pinned announcement should stay put until unpinned.”

    Agree 100%. Partially done, poorly.

Unless I'm missing something, pinning the post only saves the post to the hidden-by-default info sidebar and puts a little green icon on it. That hardly serves the purpose of pinning a post.

if you have an existing post that you want to show in a different channel, you can edit the message and cross-post. This will add the top-level post to the different channel, but will not include the full set of replies. We will keep this request in mind as we evolve the cross-posting feature in the future and update if the status changes.

Details on cross posting can be found here: https://support.office.com/article/cross-post-a-channel-conversation-in-teams-9c1252a3-67ef-498e-a7c1-dd7147b3d295.

Does “try this instead” mean this is resolved, or is it a best effort to give a workaround while the issue is being worked in? I hope it’s the latter.

    >>Please add this feature once and for all. Competitors have had this for a long time.

Like the open-source PhpBB did, twenty years ago.

A common task for managing an online community is pruning and cleaning the forum. The open source phpBB has been able to do this for more than a decade.

If the "cross-posted" message was kept in sync in both places. That would be a viable work-around.

Unless there is something I missed, the suggested work-around is not significantly different than copy/pasting into a new post which splits it into parallel conversations.

Part of the same conversation- regardless the default settings, owners need to be able to know who is receiving notifications in order to plan and manage communications.

Some channels, maybe most, are better with notifications default “off”, others really need a default “on.” Team owners just need the choice. Default on is a feature my *users* have requested because they don’t want to rely on optimizing their own notification, at least by default.

Removing or hiding per channel (especially the General channel) would be great. Second best would be allowing it to be rearranged so it is not the default view upon opening. For some channels I'd rather that be a file, list, or sharepoint page

I disagree. Chat and Teams are at entirely different levels, although the functions overlap. Teams is at the team level, and chat is at the individual level (even if with multiple people ad-hoc). The Teams pane is a bulletin board, while the Chat pane is a mailbox.

The challenge I see is naming things with commonly used words and then reusing the terms over and over. There's Chat, meeting chat (conversations) and Teams have chats (posts). It's like when I ask kids what they want for dinner, and they say "food."

We are now preparing for the roll out of Tasks in Teams which will integrate additional features integrating To-Do and Planner. This includes additional list views that also extend to tabs in teams. Further announcements about additional integration in our overall Tasks coherence effort will follow.

You can follow the rollout via our Roadmap item: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?searchterms=57213. To see a preview of the experience, please visit https://youtu.be/rTATVGroEsQ.

As long as updating tasks in planner alerts the whole team, using this product is a no-go for us. Not sure the logic behind this functionality.
