Thank you for your feedback. The Teams EDU engineering team is currently testing our Supervised Chat feature, that provides a safe solution in education that allows chat to be turned off for student-to-student communication, while still allowing students to connect with their teachers and peers in acsafe manner. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

Thank you for all of the feedback around this feature! We are reviewing what the best path forward is for this.

Just so everyone knows in the meantime, teachers can absolutely review any student attached or distributed work in Assignments even if students have not clicked the ‘Turn in’ button. Some of the comments also mention that the work might not be done digitally and submitted a different way, students can also Turn in the assignment without attaching any files/resources or can use the Teams mobile app to take a photo of their paper-based work to submit digitally.

Finally, when you return the assignment as a teacher (even without the student turning in) the feedback loop is also closed. Hope this helps.

Hello wonderful educators and students! I read a report recently that nearly 750M students (of the worlds 1.6B students) attend schools that were closed in October due to the global pandemic. Please know that your Microsoft team is listening hard to the needs of this community.

Regarding assignments integration with Calendar, we have made significant progress and look forward to making this available everyone as soon as possible.

I had a pretty big need for this as this is how we are going to push out our Distance Learning tutorials. I didn't want users editing or deleting anything as recovery is difficulty and there is no version history. I thought of using OneNote but the Wiki loads so much faster and is more friendly to read on a mobile device.

Anyway I figured out how to accomplish it. Please be warned, I do not know if this procedure has any negative consequences. Please implement at your own risk. The behavior in Teams is not pretty but works. For example, if a user goes to edit text, it will appear to allow them to edit but they will soon get a message that says "Unknown error" and when they click OK, any changes are automatically undone. If a new section is created by a user, it appears (for them) and disappears immediately. The same is true for a new page. Any new content created by an Owner of the Team, shows up as it should without any action needed to be taken.

    Finally, here are the steps:

Go to the Teams page on SharePoint
    Site Contents
    Site Settings
Click Wiki on Sidebar under Recent (it will have an odd name)
All Items > Edit Current View
Click 'Settings' on Title Bar to the left of 'Edit View'
    Permissions for this List
    Stop Inheriting
    Set Members to Restricted View

Click Wiki on Sidebar under Recent (it will have an odd name)
For Each Item in List > Manage Access > Advanced > Delete Unique Permissions

    Hope this helps someone.

We are experiencing this issue as well. We are using SDS (Using Flow which is awesome!!) to sync our courses to Teams. When a student is added to a course, they do not appear in the already created Class Notebook. To get the student to show up, we have to go to Teams, click on the team and click on the Class Notebook and make sure the student is listed. Sometimes they are still not there and we have to click on the Class Notebook of any other team, then go back to the original Class Notebook and then they appear.
